Human Reserved

“Human Reserved” - this term leapt off the screen for me this morning while reading a new opinion piece from Bill Gates published on “GatesNotes”.

The concept of Human Reserved is to intentionally keep certain jobs human, not because AI can’t do them, but because something would be lost if it did. Gates likened this to nature reserves, places where we could build and develop, but we choose not to because the loss would be too great.

AI implementation is full of design choices. Those choices need influence and owners. Who better to influence the design than the people doing the work?

And who better to own the proactive and intentional design than HR? HR should not be managing AI’s fallout, but instead deciding what stays human and defending why.

That’s a People Intelligence decision before it’s a technology one.
